About Your AppointmentJanet Crow's CranioSacral Therapy treatments are client focused and goal oriented. When we first meet we will discuss why you are seeking CST and what you would like from the treatments. At this time I can also answer any questions or describe more about CST if you like. CranioSacral Therapy is performed with the client fully clothed, on a comfortable massage table, in a quiet and nurturing environment. The techniques I use are very light touch, just a few grams of pressure. At times I may use more dynamic unwinding techniques. But most often the technique is a gentle hold or slight traction of tissues. You will feel relaxed like you do after a massage, but it will not "feel" like a massage because there is no kneading or rubbing of muscles. All work is done over clothes and a blanket. I work on the bony structures in the cranium and sacrum (tail bone, hips and lower back), as well as the soft tissues and fascia throughout the body and abdomen. If there is an area of your body you do not want worked on, just let me know. During CST you will feel very relaxed and may feel as if you will fall asleep. You will also notice a lot of heat from my hands, this naturally happens when I do CST. You may also notice heat or a pulsing from your tissues as they heal. Other common experiences are deep breaths as tensions release and stomach gurgles as the nervous system balances. You may even feel sensations in one area of your body even though I am working on a different area of your body. Many feel a sense of internal expansion and softening of their body. These are all common and wonderful signs of lasting healing and balance in your body. Sometimes emotions and memories may come up. Clients have felt all sorts of feelings on the table, good and "bad" memories. I provide a nurturing and supportive environment for my clients to express and feel what they need to feel in order to heal. When emotions that have been protected and held in the body are released, they sometimes come to our conscious awareness. The memories or thoughts can also appear as images in our imagination. It can be very helpful to engage in a creative conversation with these images during the session. How many sessions will I need? The duration between treatments depends on your goals, but clients most often prefer weekly or biweekly appointments to begin with. Each treatment works off of the previous session, so even with just a few appointments it is possible to experience lasting improvement and changes. I will always give you my honest assessment on how many appointments you need to reach your goals. I am always happy to discuss the progression of improvements and your goals. | ||||
